Twin cake smash

Cake smash sessions are always SO much fun…..but with twins? It’s double the joy.

And also double the amount of cake found (all over the room) after.

It’s ok, it was so totally worth it! I love these two!

We also did a ton of other cute things with these guys. 1 yr old photo sessions are so much fun.

Photo Purses

I decided it was time I toted my loved ones around with me….that and my business, so I decided to get my own photo purse! It has my family on one side and some of my favorite newborn pictures I have shot on the other to show off my work. Now I can be like “Why yes I do have samples of my work” and with a little flip of my purse, here they are! It’s amazing. I really do love it. (Ohhh and it has “top grain leather trim and handles.” I feel quite fancy… especially considering that I have just never really been much of a purse-person and have been using my last purse since pretty much high school. Don’t laugh.)

We sell lots of different styles so you can choose your own photo purse, and you can tote around your family as well…or just your kids…or your dog, that would make a really cute purse!
They start at $45 for the wallets and go up to around $150 for the really large bags.  Come check them out!

What to wear for you family pictures

Figuring the perfect color combination for your family pictures can be a challenge! We usually recommend choosing 1-3 different colors to dress everyone in. Some of the most common things are browns with different shades of cream to a dark brown, all in black, all in white, and especially during this Christmas season, reds.

People have really started getting creative lately and we have seen a lot of blues with yellows as well as other colorful combination. We recently had our own family portrait taken in purple green and blue! (Pictures to come soon!)

One of my favorite pictures from this past fall is this one.

I love the color and style of clothes they chose for their picture. It’s classy and fun at the same time! Their colors look perfect with the fall colors, and honestly they chose one of the most beautiful days of the year for pictures. Fall is stunning! It’s interesting to see the greens golds and browns from their clothes echoed in the leaves. Amazing!

Here are a few more favorites from their sitting.

Christmas Cards

Yes, perhaps you may think it’s a little early. It’s not even HALLOWEEN yet! And yes, I understand the annoyance with business’ pushing Christmas on us…put I promise! That’s not what I’m doing!!! ;) (At least I don’t think so.)

I would just like to suggest, ever so very kindly that it is absolutely GORGEOUS outside. Fall is such an amazing time for pictures PLUS it is so conveniently placed right before Christmas. So why not come in for a Family picture and get some Christmas Cards?

Our cards are only $25. That’s it! We design them for you and put them on a CD you can print wherever you want. (YOU OWN THE COPYRIGHT!) You can take ‘em down to Costco and print them out for 39 cents each! .39!!!

Call us to schedule your portrait session at 801-562-0690. To see more of our work check out our website at www.barrusphoto.com.

Draper and Oquirrh Mountain Temple Wedding Pictures

Both of these temples can be a challenge to photograph because they are so new and so the trees and landscaping are not as developed. If you are going to get married at one of these temples it is very important to choose the right photographers (like us!) We are very experienced and know just how to find the right spot to get pictures like the ones Steve shot below!

Posting these makes me want to get married all over again (just don’t tell my husband, we already had THREE weddings….long story.) -Jenny Gamboa

Swinging babies

We have waited a long time to try this fun look, its just been so hard to find the right little hammock/hanging cocoon.Finally we decided we would just learn to crochet ourselves. So far I can make a lopsided square that could possibly be used as a pot holder, Elaine, however has been extremely successful. It’s been like 3 weeks and she’s a professional crocheter. It’s not fair, except for the fact that now I get these awesome photography props.  Wahoo!

Maternity Madness

There has been some serious Maternity Madness going on here at Barrus. Look at all their lovely ladies and their bellies. I know that now everyone gets Maternity pictures but I am not going to lie…I recommend it. It is just so much fun! I love documenting this exciting time in peoples lives. Pregnant women just GLOW. It is also sooo much fun when older sibling come along and daddies too.

I love it because in this picture I told the dad (who happens to be my brother) to “whisper sweet nothing into her ear.” Apparently I found out that the sweet nothings he whispered were “this is ridiculous” (or something to that extent.) Yeah, it might take some ear-pulling to get your man to your maternity session, but it is totally worth it don’t you think?

Wheeler Farm

Wheeler Farm is one of our favorite places to shoot. It has so much variety! They have so many old buildings and huge trees. There are tractors and old farm equipment. In the morning time it is one of the few spots we can shoot with the beautiful Utah mountains in the background.

Missionaries

We love our missionaries at Barrus Photography. We really feel that pictures are so important for them. Families are so grateful to have portraits of their missionaries while they are gone, and its such a fun way to remember them by. We are happy to support missionaries by offering a free session fee with 20% off all prints. Or if they wish to buy the CD of all their images it is $85 with a 50% print discount.

Many of our missionaries choose to purchase what we call a montage. A wonderful way to decorate your walls and send a message to younger siblings and encourage them to go on missions as well.
